He is an accomplished risk and controls professional that works with asset managers, banks, and broker-dealers.
Charmone has primarily focused on governance, risk, and compliance services, performing co-sourced and outsourced internal audits, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) readiness assessments and consulting, IPO Readiness, risk assessments, controls-based investigations, compliance audits, IT application controls (ITAC) reviews, and external quality assurance reviews (EQAR). He has assisted clients with designing, implementing, and testing of processes and controls to ensure financial and regulatory rules were met.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton’s Advisory Services, he practiced with other international consulting firms where he provided risk and internal controls services to public and private companies. In addition, he spent three years working in the private sector within corporate accounting and financial reporting.
Outside of GT, Charmone serves on the AICPA Foundation board, a nonprofit established in 1922 to advance accounting as a learned profession and promoting its future through accounting education and outreach; scholarships and fellowships; and diversity and inclusion. One of Charmone’ s greatest satisfactions is witnessing the success of his colleagues; he loves mentoring the next generation of GT professionals to assist them in finding and following their passion. He is instrumental in creating opportunities for younger professionals to grow and succeed, sometimes encouraging staff to take on new challenges that might be uncomfortable.
